Yeah.. photography business is starting to get a little busier. Lots of inquiries and lots of questions.. some things I have answers to, some I don’t. So I’m looking for someone whom is familiar with registering a business, the tax implications and benefits, possible grants (PNP?
) and other things.
I’m trying to figure out if I will be busy enough to warrant registering my own business, or if it’s something I should do on the side without registering.. I’m leaning towards registering it as I think it would be exciting and something I could call ‘my own’, but also as a huge learning experience.
I have had some interest and lots of good comments.. since my first gig I also have gained a lot of confidence with it, so as far as I’m concerned.. it’s all great!
So yeah, if you know someone whom has started up something similiar, let me know!
Thanks guys!
Len

As you know, it is entirely unnecessary to register as a business right now, and it won't gain you much in the way of tax rebates until your revenue grows to the point where you can apply your (always painful) initial expenses to it. Now, I'll contrast that somewhat snarky comment with this one; actually registering a business with a real name and not just some cold tax number can do something special. It makes it real! Like you said, Lenny, it becomes you “own” and something that is very real and exciting. Cold, hard, regulatory issues be damned, it feels so bloody good to actually have a REAL business!
