K-Rock, Ocean, Magic – A post to thee..

As I was driving home last night, I turned it on the radio and I believe it was Ocean 103 which I was listening to.. I didn’t particularly like the song, so I switched over to Magic 93.. again, I wasn’t very happy with the song selection so my impatient trigger finger flipped the dial over to K-Rock.. Ahh.. bliss! A song I wanted to listen to.. we’ll say it’s AC/DC just to make it sound cooler.

Anyhow, it got me to thinking how much Magic 93 sucked when I was in high school. For some reason unbeknownst to me, they would play the same songs over and over and over and over… we all remember that right? Well I’m happy to report that we now have 3 VERY good radio stations to listen to here on the Island, and although a lot of people switched over to Ocean and never looked back, I for one am a radio whore.. going from one station to the next, whichever is playing the most good music, lately.. I hate to say it… but it’s been Magic 93.

Don’t get me wrong, K-Rock is still my favorite radio station, and between the two morning shows, they are the best and funniest way to start your morning, however I’ve found over the last year or so..they’ve become SO popular, that they are playing less and less music, and more and more ads. I guess that’s what we’re to expect eh? Everyone is listening to Ocean and K-Rock, so business owners switched from Magic 93 to the new radio stations over the course of the last few years. It makes sense, whether we like it or not.

Despite the increase in ads, I can honestly say that I really, really enjoy having three good radio stations.. just like last night when I switched from one station to the next, then the next.. its’ not too often that I go without finding a song that I can listen to with the volume pumped, I still think I’m the best ‘all-alone-in-the-car’ singer that’s out there.
