So since its’ my birthday, I’m going to teach you, as a present from me to you
How to download enough content to fill up your hard drives quicker than ever!
* NOTE: obviously I’m not responsible for nor have anything to do with what you do with this information, I’m simply explaining how it’s done.
The best part is.. you only need a few programs, and they are:
With these tools, you can likely download and extract anything you want from the Internet.
Now, the other thing you need are the websites or places to find these things… here are a few that I use very regularly:
- rlslog.net – Shows you what has been released and a lot of time has the torrent files all ready for you (really good for movies which have been released)
- speckly.net – A GREAT search engine for torrent files, I use this one almost exclusively
- vcdq.com – For movies, this is a no-brainer, it shows you the quality of a movie before you waste your time downloading it
And there you have it.. pretty easy eh? So download and install the programs that I’ve listed, and follow along, I’ll show you what to do..
Ok, so we’re browsing RLSLOG.net, and we come across an interesting title.. say.. District 9 REPACK R5 LiNE XviD-KAMERA. Now what we are wondering is.. is this crap quality? Or really good? For this, we head on over to VCDQuality.com or vcdq.com and check it out.. there are a few there.. but we know which one we’re looking for..
I know that’s actually hard to see, but if you see the first KAMERA one, you can tell that the rating is 9.0/7.2/7.8 .. this means that the video is 9.0 out of 10 (really good!) and the audio is rated at 7.2 out of 10 (good enough for me) and the overall movie rating is 7.8 (IMDB is better for rating movies, so I ignore this).
Now the one with the ratings isn’t the *REPACK* which is the one we have listed.. well, what REPACK means.. basically.. is that the first time that they uploaded this movie.. they screwed up. This is the 2nd effort. Usually the reason can be seen in the little ‘nuclear’ symbol when if you hover over it, it will tell you.. it says ‘CBR audio’ on the first one, which really doesn’t make a huge difference to me, but some audiophiles out there may notice a difference. In any case, always go with the one without a nuke symbol next to it.
So how do you get it? Well there are lots of different ways, but the first way is by simply looking on rlslog.net where you originally found the movie, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you’ll see lots of good information.
Links: IMDb – RT - Trailer – Official Sites
Samples: Video | #1 – #2 – #3
Subtitles: HERE ( SUBPACK REPACKED VERSION )
NFO: Here
Torrent: NTi - MiniNova
NZB: Search
You see the “Torrent:” part? Yes! Genius you are! All those link do are redirect you to another site which usually houses the torrent… click on NTi and boom..
| 06.09.09 | District.9.REPACK.R5.LiNE.XviD-KAMERA [dl] | 1.37 GB | n/a | n/a | 1170x | |
| 05.09.09 | District.9.REPACK.R5.LiNE.XviD-KAMERA-[] [dl] | 1.37 GB | n/a | n/a | 3707x |
So you fire up one of those links, and it’ll start the download of the torrent..
Once the torrent is downloaded (which is nothing more than a glorified text file), open it up in ‘uTorrent’ and it will prompt you were to save the movie.
It will then ask you were to save it in a screen like this:
It’s basically just asking you where you want to save it, so pick a spot.. and press ok!
Away it goes!
So once it’s done and at 100%.. you can remove it from uTorrent (highlight it and delete.. or you can share if you like for a night or two, after all, if everyone didn’t share.. no one would have any of these!), and then go find the files you downloaded on your computer, you should know where they are, you picked the spot! In my example I would look in the F: drive and find the files.
One problem.. the files are all in .rar, .r01, etc. format?!? What the heck does that mean?
Well, so far you’ve only used one program and a web browser to get all the files.. the other program, WinRar.. is what comes in handy now! All you have to do is right click on any of them, and click on ‘extract here’ from the context menu..
And then you’ll see it extract and finally you’ll be left with an .avi file or whatever you downloaded… of course .avi files are movies.
Ok, that should be enough thought provoking information to get you started.. got questions? Comments? Let me know in the comments below.
Happy Birthday to Me!
PS: I should mention that the other website that I’ve listed – Speckly.com is used a lot if the torrents AREN’T listed on the rlslog.net page. Also if you’re just doing a bunch of searches for random movies, speckly.com is great for that.
