Ok I’m a fairly easing going guy, and it takes a bit to get me upset so with that in mind, this is not a blog article where I am actually upset. I’m in disbelief actually.
I ordered a two WDTV’s (which I’ll be reviewing soon).. one for me, and one for my neighbour. Basically the device can play downloaded content from an usb drive including BluRay stuff and HiDef. Anyhow, Ordered from two different places.. NewEgg.ca, and NCIX.
The date that the items were shipped, were August 20th from NewEgg.ca (even thought it ships from California) and August 25th for NCIX. Both orders seemed fine and I noticed through the tracking numbers that they processed fine through the US Border.
Now I should mention that at this point, I was in Boston during this time.. however I was back on the 31st fully expecting to have the NewEgg parcel waiting for me when I got home. Sadly, I didn’t receive either of them.
“For sure on Monday!” I thought, and since I had the day off to “recover” from my trip, I stayed at the house pretty much all day just puttering around waiting for the deliver guy, whom never showed up! Around 4:45 I decided to call around a few places to see what was going on.. this is where the story gets interesting..
I called up McInnis Express whom delivered previous parcels from NCIX for me so I knew they did UPS. I called them, and they kindly told me that they no longer deliver UPS and the contract has been handed over to SameDay as of last Friday! Great!, Just my luck.. I called over to SameDay to find out what was going on, and the girl from SameDay told me they no longer deliver UPS as of last Friday… wait.. what?? Umm, yeah.. so apparently McInnis Express was completely incorrect and they actually work with SameDay (or used to) on the UPS parcels. All she knew was that it was no longer them.
Of course I called up Purolator, but by this time it was past 5pm and I got someone from their customer service team likely out in Ontario somewhere whom was actually pretty helpful in advising that they would get someone to call me back. At this point I really didn’t want a callback, I just wanted to make sure my parcels would be here tomorrow.
I got a callback from someone, I have no idea what his name was.. but he basically told me what I already knew.. they were ‘en-route’. Thanks a lot. He did tell me that they did deliveries till 8pm in the Maritimes, so they could be here tonight.. I call bullshit… and of course, they didn’t show up.
So the next morning, I go into work and recieve a phone call at around 11:15AM from the QEH.. apparently there was a parcel there for me from Netlink computers (NCIX). HUH?!? How is this possible.. the guy told me that they weren’t sure why they dropped it off, they just did. Actually I was quite appreciative of the phone call from the QEH as he certainly didn’t have to call me.. thankfully he did. So at lunch I headed to the QEH and picked up my parcel. In no way, anywhere. does it say QEH, or Hospital.. or anything.. it had my address on it!
Make a long story short.. that was unbelievable.. but not only that, this parcel was the one which was ordered 5 business days AFTER the NewEgg one! That parcel, arrived the next day and was sitting on my doorstep (yes.. he left it there), when I got home from lunch. Nice eh? If I’m no mistaken, I actually believe that there was a ‘signature required’ on that one… obviously the Purolator guy thought the business was just kidding..
So note to self.. Purolator sucks, NewEgg is slow to ship.. and I really have to be careful with my home address may be at the QEH and no one’s told me yet.
