Follow Up Post – $8.00 Prescription Glasses..
Well it’s been awhile since I posted about how and where to find $8.00 prescription glasses, so I figure I’d follow up with a post to let you know how good (or bad) the deal actually was.
Save mega-bucks on glasses!
Firstly, I should tell you that I know of two people very close to me whom ordered and received glasses from Zenni Optical. The first thing I should mention, is that this deal is EXACTLY as good as it seems. Both folks that I know of that ordered glasses received them fairly quickly, and saved a bundle!
My girlfriends mom actually purchased NINE pairs of prescription glasses (she has a fairly simple prescription like my own), so her deal was as good as advertised.. $8.00 for some frames with glass included. Man, every time I think about this it gets me pissed off cuz I know how much mark-up the local retailers are charging! It should be illegal!
My father ordered two pairs of prescription glasses, however his were more difficult to order, or at least were more complicated as he has progressive bifocals (no line on the lens separating the two strengths for close up and far away). His prescription however, was easily entered and after a little bit of pick and choosing.. he got 2 pairs of glasses, with sunglass clips.. for $115 CAD to the door. Considering he paid over $300 for one pair locally on what he thought was a good deal, yeah, I’d say this is almost a too good to be true type of deal. Except it’s true!
Ok if you’re still skeptical.. I’ll make you a deal.. if you’re going to buy a set of glasses from somewhere else.. get your prescription and pay me 1/2 of the amount that you were quoted and I will get you TWO pairs of glasses and keep the difference! Heh heh.. maybe I’ll be able to afford my own jet then!
It makes you wonder if glasses are that cheap online, what else is out there which have incredible mark-ups that we don’t know about? What about Dog Food? Car Insurance? Rv Insurance? TV Services?
Just makes me think that for our hard earned dollar and the prices that we pay for most items.. it may be good sense to look for other deals out there.. got any to share?
