I’ve found a great new site with lots of tips and tricks for saving money every month. As frugal as I think I am (not very), frugaldad.com is a GREAT resource and definitely a blog to bookmark or follow in your RSS feeds.
I found a post with 75 tips to save money in a down economy, and there are some which I think I’m going to look more into, such as:
- Switch to cloth napkins.
- Just say no to social events, or agree to meet after dinner.
- Have a no-spend weekend.
- Carpool a few times a week. (yep.. I’ll be talking to you soon about this Liz
) - Shop for clothes on eBay. (this tip is great.. check it out as tip #71)
There are lots of other great ideas on the site as well, one of which is to close the blinds to save money on heating, just a great site all around. Check it out.. especially these 75 tips.. some of them are very well unique and easy to do.

Great list and I’ll add prepaid cell phone carriers to that list. While I was preparing to graduate last year, I realized I was putting out more than $110 a month on my cell phone bill and my budget couldn’t handle it. So I decided to switch to Net10 prepaid and the savings have been huge – more than $70 a month back in my pocket. Over the next two years, I should be saving more than $1,600 with Net10 and I don’t have to worry about contracts or hidden fees. Net10 is totally about savings and flexiblity in terms of plans and phones – phones range as low as $29 and top out at $79 and you can buy minutes as you go or pay month to month. Not to mention while I’m shopping at Target or Walmart, I can actually buy my phone and minutes or re-charge mintues directly from the phone itself. If you’ve ever been skeptical about prepaid, Net10 will make you a believer.
Thanks Kimberly for your comment..
Unfortunately net10 isn't in Canada at this time, but I certainly agree with you premise of prepaid service. It doesn't really apply for big data usage phones like iPhone and Blackberries, but if you just want a phone.. plain and simple for texting, etc.. you really can't beat prepaid.
Unfortunately I'm a crackberry addict and looking to change over to an iPhone sometime (currently saving up with Liz for this one)
Great idea
