Holy record breaking temperatures! I’m not sure what you guys did over the weekend – but I tried to spend as much time outside as I could. I’m actually starting to think I may have jumped the gun on a few things – such as taking out the patio furniture, raking up the leaves, cleaning up the yard and I even planted some seeds (inside though in our little mini-greenhouse).
Something else myself and Liz are going to try is budgeting our food for the month. Now perhaps we haven’t allotted ourselves enough money for the full month, but what we’re trying to do – is go the whole month on $50 per week, or $200 until May 1st.
To some this sounds like a lot, to others it sounds ridiculously little – truthfully I have no idea.. all I know is that in order to curb spending, changes have to be made. So I withdrew the $200 in cash and Saturday we went sale hunting. We bought lots of bread (4/$5 at Sobeys so we bought 8 loafs) and we planned out our meals for this week. All in all we spent $76 and I can honestly say we have LOTS of food to last us at least 2 weeks, we’ll see.
When you think about how much money we spend on eating out and the little amounts – it’d be interesting to see if this makes a difference or not.
What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Too much or too little? Let me know in the comments below…

I agree len. Erin and I have been talking about the same thing. $500+ a month is getting up there even with 2 kids. Time to slash/ whoneeds those nachos at 10:00 at night watching tv.
RV
Ha.. yeah I hear ya RV.. Liz doesn't seem to convinced we can do it, but I'm convinced we can. Unfortunately I don't have a marker to really gauge how much we were spending before, but at least this way we know exactly what we're spending.
I just hope we have a little bit of surplus at the end of the month.. that way we can treat ourselves.. but we'll see
