Well if you’re reading my blog today you’re going to notice that I’ve changed themes. I’m going to tinker around with this one for awhile but to be honest the main reason I’m switching is to make it easier for myself to post content. Using the old theme I’d have to manually go in and upload a picture afterwards and set the categories and update other categories in order to get the proper posts on the front page. All in all, it was a pain in the arse – so I’ve switched to this one, which will allow me to update much more often and post lots more which is what I want to do.
So.. yeah.. Happy Belated Canada Day everyone! It was an awesome weekend in which I had my brother and his family over from Halifax and got them out to do a photo shoot on Saturday morning. The weather was unreal and I found a pretty slick new location which I likely will re-use a few times with other families. I’ve got a lot of photos to touch up this week so I’ll likely be next to a computer for most of the foreseeable future!
Cirque Du Soliel did their last performance last night and I was fortunate to have Liz snag some corporate passes. One word sums up the event as far as I’m concerned. INCREDIBLE! Whomever thought up the idea to have them come to Charlottetown to perform should be promoted.. wait.. no, don’t promote them as then we’ll not have great ideas like this again next year! This was my 3rd Cirque show that I’ve seen and I have to say that it was very close to my favorite of the three. “Zumanity” was horrible, “Ka” was excellent even though Liz fell asleep (too many drunk nights perhaps Liz) but since they were both in Vegas I find it tough to compare. This show started out in the streets of Charlottetown and gradually made their way to the stage.. well done! It was very exciting, the music was mesmorizing and the performances were out of this world.. like I said on the way out of the venue.. I feel like I should go work out or something. Those performers were completely ripped as far as being in good shape goes, and the strength and flexibility that they showcased was second to none. Many, many favorite acts and performances – I think everyone left very satisfied, which they should have.

Well. That’s an interesting review to favor this performance over the high production setups of Vegas.
Well, as far as I’m concerned it was a lot better than the much hyped Zumanity. “Ka” however was a totally different show.. it featured a stage which was basically built on an axis so it could be a flat stage or be almost completely upright.. very cool.. but very different.
Great show, that’s for sure… Did you get many pictures?
We seen Mystère, Zumanity and Alegría. I’ve watched parts of Ka on YouTube and really wanted to see O.
The Charlottetown show was very good for what they had to work with. Short show on a movable stage. I feel it’s unfair to compare to Vegas.
I’ll be blogging photos through out the week as I get into sorting them. For now, two previews of what I was able to capture:

Wow!! Great shots buddy!! You using yer trusty 2.8 70-200mm for those bad boys? The 2nd one could easily be the cover shot for the brochure.. well done.
Yeah I hear ya on 'O'.. I really wanted to see that too.. heard that an Ka were the ones to see.
70-200 f/4 Only other lens I have is 17-40 and that's just too wide without a fancy media pass.
Photos have now been added to my blog and will continue for the next few days. http://www.focusedonlight.com
Yeah I always look at your daily photos.. always impressive. I have a non-L 70-300 for those types of shots (hopefully be able to upgrade in the near future) and I love it so I know exactly what you're saying.. all the difference in the world.. like you though, I've got my eye on the 2.8 70-200.
Man it's tough not going into debt to feed the addictions eh?
