Well it wasn’t easy, I’ll give you that.. but I have Liz convinced that we should be car pooling whenever we can since we both work downtown and both generally get off at 5pm. I say generally due to this week of course I’m working 7-4pm and Liz isn’t really that happy about going to work at 7am – but personally, I don’t think it’s a HUGE sacrifice to pay in order to save a LOT of money on Gas.
How much?
Well I actually keep track of my gas mileage at FuelFrog.com and I’ve noticed that before we started car pooling – I was getting just slightly less then 2 weeks out of a tank of gas. For me that’s about 45 Liters. Now of course my gas tank hasn’t gotten any bigger, but just the same I look back at my previous fillup and I went from May 29th to June 19th before needing my fill up – or, 3 weeks to the day.
There’s a few other advantages to car pooling as well, one being – talking to and from work. Generally speaking I would have the
music cranked and sit and just watch the moronic PEI drivers make mistake after mistake on the roads.. so I guess now the difference is that the music is turned down a bit and we both get to witness them together! Actually it’s good, we get to plan our dinners on the way home, figure out what each other is doing and what’s going on – all before we turn in the driveway. I like it – it’s very efficient
We also save money obviously. But not only for just gas savings – I also find that avoid the temptation to go spend money and I know Liz may miss the odd sale or shopping spree she had planned cuz she knows I have to pick her up… so I guess we may save a bit of money by doing that as well. Of course, then I’d just come home and order something over the Internet like the Fantom G-Force 1tb Hard Drive at buy.com which I’m starting to get ansy to buy again since my hard drives are getting older and I don’t trust computers.
So there’s two reasons – another one I can think of is that we only take up one parking space! This actually may be a bigger deal soon as today, we have parking available to both of us – however soon we’re going to have the big hotel being built pretty close to where Liz is working, and that’s going to cause some issues downtown. Speaking of downtown parking – what the hell are they doing with all the new students and residences at Holland College anyhow?
