Today was one of those wonderful days where I literally had nothing on the agenda to do. The best part is that I had actually planned to do nothing … and for the most part, I did a good job of achieving that. A few weeks ago my roommate had decided to move out so over the last few days he’s been moving his things from the room downstairs. Ironically enough, Liz met a new “CFA” (you all watched Regis right? “Come From Away”) and this person was looking for a new place to live as he just recenly moved to the Island and currently is living in a Hotel (not cheap during peak season!)
So Liz and I met him today and I must admit that I’m pretty good with first impressions, and I think he’s a fantastic person – he came over and checked out the place and loves the dogs and everything. Only one problem… how does he get to work every day? Initially I thought (since he works in town) that he could simply commute with us – split the gas.. win/win for everyone right? Unfortunately however, he doesn’t work the 8-5ish hours that we do, so that wouldn’t work. No problem I thought, we have that bus route down the street that seems like it would work, I’ll check the schedule.
I surfed on over to the Trius Transit website and downloaded the pdf with the Stratford routes – 8:47AM it heads into town on it’s third route from the end of the street.. perfect! Oh.. wait.. the only run back is around 5-ish. Darn it! That won’t work either.
I can’t say I’m entirely surprised as I know the busses were a tough thing to get going on the Island. I certainly hope that they’re doing well and passenger base is increasing for them – but it’s unfortunate they don’t run later. If I didn’t have to come home every day for lunch, I’d be using them for for sure as I think the bus is a great idea.
So now I think the potential new roommate is going to be is looking for a car, then of course he’ll have to get some cheap auto insurance as well. He loved our house and we all got along great which is certainly nice, but it’s really too bad that there wasn’t another cheap option for him.

We lived on Millennium Dr in Stratford for 10months and I used the Transit for all my commuting
I was fortunate that my work times fitted with the schedule as it is a pretty inflexible timetable
As for passenger numbers it seems to change as often as the weather – There were some days when the sum total of the passengers could fit in a people carrier and other days when a seat was much harder to come by
I did try walking it on a few occasions but despite the lovely setting it isn't really a pleasant walk.
Good luck with the roommate and hope he enjoys Stratford (we certainly did)
I want to use the bus but it's too much like a school bus. It passes our house twice a day – Once in the morning and again at night. The routes also change through out the day which adds to the confusion.
