I really don’t mean to sound off on the deliver agencies around the Island and over all (like my rant on UPS and my really bad experience with one of Purolators drivers), but I have to say that they really don’t have the residential customers in mind when they do business. Should they? Well that’s up to them. Personally I think they should really have the non-business customers in mind a lot especially now when online shopping is going gang-busters and everyone seems to be doing their business online.
So why is it that Purolator has the worst hours ever when it comes to couriers? 8-5 Monday to Friday? Seriously?? So pretty much the exact same hours I work every day (and I’m sure a lot of people do). So what happens if I don’t want to have all my computer parts and camera equipment being delivered to my place of work? Well, I’m screwed – I either have to rush out there and take an extended lunch.. or try to find another way to get out there. It would be different if they were even remotely close to town, but no – they’re way out past the airport! *sigh*
Well, I’ve sort of found a solution for myself anyhow (albeit a bit riskier). Many people knew this already, but I didn’t know that you can get an “SNR” sticker, or “signature not required” sticker and put it on your window for the driver.
I just got one actually, and it seems simple enough – put it in my window where they usually leave the notices, and they will leave the parcels there. Seeing that I go home every day for lunch, this may work a lot better. The process was simple enough, I just picked up a parcel out there in Brackley today and signed a form – they gave me a sticker – I put it in my window.. bam, driver will scan the code and leave the package for me.
Obviously there are certain items that they won’t do it for (items worth over $5000, COD orders, etc), but for the most part I find this a good solution as I’ve never had a problem before – hopefully this will help.. and Liz can get her ugg boots without having to drive all the way out to the other side of town
