Charlottetown Police are online in a social way

Did you know that the Ch’town Police are online? Did you also know that you can get updates as to the goings-on around town using Twitter? Or an RSS feed? Or on their website?

You can, and it’s pretty interesting.

Their site is at http://charlottetownpolice.com/, but you can also follow them on Twitter or subscribe to the RSS Feeds if you use them (Google Reader is my best friend!).

Here’s a look at what’s going on today (via Twitter)

Pretty cool hey? I must [...]

How The Internet Has Saved Lives

I found this article absolutely fascinating so I wanted to post it myself. Just a number of instances where the Internet has come to the rescue and the various ways it’s helped.

Since the dawn of the first bulletin boards and chat rooms, the Internet has been slammed for a number of perceived social ills. Alarmists have worried about Internet addiction, and critics of networking media point out how a virtual life has replaced face-to-face interaction for some people. Yet the [...]

Want To Know The Deal Behind Those Facebook Status ‘Color’ Updates?..

Well, the men are going to like this one.. well, I think anyhow…

For the past couple of days, Facebook status updates have been confusing me with ‘pink’, ‘white’, ‘black’, ‘blue’, etc..etc.. and truthfully, that’s the whole point of the silly thing!

Women are putting up the color of their bra’s that day!!

The idea is to promote Breast Cancer awareness, and I think it’s a great idea personally… Keep it up!! Hmm, perhaps now that the idea is ‘de-mystified’.. can we [...]

This is interesting – Facebook breaches Canadian privacy law..

Facebook shares personal information with developers who create games and quizzes in a way that breaches Canadian privacy law, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has found.

The popular social networking site, which is used by 12 million Canadians, doesn’t have enough safeguards to prevent those third-party developers from getting unauthorized access to users’ personal information, says the report released Thursday by assistant privacy commissioner Elizabeth Denham.

‘For a hangman application … there is no use for the developer to [...]

Don’t drop your FaceBook Friends.. just filter them out, easy and they don’t know!

There’s been a few friends status updates I’ve seen lately that are ‘cleaning up’ their Facebook to only include people that they talk to regularly, care about, stalk.. you know.. that sort of thing. I think the reason for this is the amount of updates some people put in, and the application updates that are useless and most don’t care about, and the odd person that likes to post about every single thing they are doing at every single moment.. [...]

Clean up Facebook’s application updates (instead of hiding them all) automatically!

Are you as sick as I am of seeing the Facebook applications show up in the feed.. stuff like “Which Safari Animal Are You?” and “What type of car are you?”.. well.. I sure as hell am.

Two steps and you can get rid of those annoying buggers if you’re using FireFox!

1. Install Greasemonkey

2. Install the following Greasemonkey Script.

Done.. now you’ll see in the top right corner of your Facebook page:

And that’s that.. a much better Facebook experience for me anyhow..

Thanks [...]
