I Can’t Believe What Time I Was Awake Today

It’s true. I am now officially more of a morning person than I ever thought possible. I do have to throw out a disclaimer though – I know that 1/2 the people reading this are going to say .. “Oh god, that’s not early!! blah blah blah”. You have to understand, for me.. early was 10:30 AM on the weekends. That was seriously me getting up early.

Now it seems, after 8 years of getting up around 7AM every day, my [...]

The Little Things Add Up! Contact Solution??

I wear contacts, in fact I just got another years supply not that long ago that should do me for awhile, but one thing that I never really noticed before but do you realize how expensive saline solution is? It is! $14.99 for two bottles unless you get it on sale and it lasts what.. maybe 2 months if you wear your contacts regularly. There’s not much we can do about that as we need the contact solution in [...]

Wish Me Luck – Going To Try Giving Up Coffee..

I post a lot about coffee.. I talk about how profitable it must be (seeing the huge amount of coffee shops around town), I blog about how expensive it is, how I save money by making my own, even talked about how we should stop drinking it and instead save some money and drink beer!

Anyhow today – July 14th, I’m going to try to give up my morning coffee. There are a few reasons that I’m thinking about doing this [...]

Naturopath – Hokey or Miraculous?

Well a week ago Monday I went to a Naturopath doctor here in Charlottetown. I posted how I was being overwhelmed by allergies and it was driving me nuts. Since that time I’ve both gotten a doctor, and went to the Naturopath doctor.. the doctors appointment isn’t for a few weeks, so I can only speak to what I know so far.

I’ll tell you about my experience at the Health Within Holistic Center here in Charlottetown. First however, I think [...]

Allergies Blow – Time To Do Something About It..

So I spent the better part of the weekend constructing a brick pathway in the front of my house. It looks absolutely amazing and I’m going to be posting up some before and after pictures as soon as I get a few of the finished product. That’s really not what I want to talk about today however, I want to talk about Allergies. The reason? Simple.. I spent the ENTIRE day Saturday sniffling, sneezing, scratching, blowing gross stuff out [...]

I Need A Doctor..

Yes, that’s right.. I am one of likely many, many Islanders without an ‘official’ family doctor. Why? Umm.. I think it’s due to the fact that I’m lazy and haven’t really had any ‘major’ problem so to speak of that would make myself feel like I needed one.

When we moved to the Island back in 1991, my Mom did get a family doctor in town (I’m not going to start naming names or anything) – and I’m sure there [...]

Make Your Own Dairy Queen Blizzard!!

Did anyone else happen to catch the article (here) about how Islanders blocked traffic and caused a big problem for cars due to the sale on at Dairy Queen last week? Did you also happen to read the fact that the Dairy Queen in Charlottetown boasts the highest annual sales of any other in NORTH AMERICA?!?! Wow…

Anyhow, this is going to be the first of two VERY awesome food tips that I have for you this week. So if [...]

A Piece Of Chocolate A Day Keeps The Doctor Away! (gotta love science…)

I’m a pretty big fan of chocolate.. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. Now is this great science or what?

Stumbled on the following information over at a German site and thankfully it’s in English

German scientists have discovered that a small piece of chocolate daily can greatly reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, but warned in a study released this week that moderation is key.

A team of researchers at the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) in Potsdam [...]

I Knew It! Cracking your knuckles does not actually hurt your bones or cause arthritis.

"whachoo just say to me boy???"

Oh the myths that you can get solved via the Internet! My brother Chris should be releaved now to know that Jason and I didn’t give him arthritis in the toes for all those times we used to crack his toes when we were kids (and the reason he can no longer sneak up on anyone.. I guess we sort of ruined his career as a ninja)

Back to the topic at hand, did you [...]

New US Health Reform Bill Passes – Yay!

Well I haven’t read enough of the details yet to truly understand the ramifications of the US Health bill which just passed – but I know one thing for sure. This bill will extend health care benefits to over 31 million people, and that can’t be a bad thing.

Although our health care has a lot of advantages over the US in a lot of different regards, it still could use some work.. but not nearly as much work as the [...]
