Great Idea When Stocking (Or Cleaning) A Fridge

I haven’t been posting that many helpful hints or tips lately, so I’m going to post something right now to remedy that situation. After I posted about how I use a ‘cleaning calendar’ and will put in chores that most likely should be done more often than I actually do them – I came across an article which actually made a little bit of sense to me.

Stock You Fridge Something Like a Vending Machine

It sounds kooky, but when I read the one part where it said that it’s a bad idea to put your fruits and veggies in the bottom drawers as it’s one of those “out of sight, out of mind” types of thinking. I know that when I do clean the fridge and have to put everything back, this is what I’m doing. Now I know this topic isn’t a big testosterone booster or anything like that, but if I could avoid throwing away food that’s gone bad from sitting around (I HATE THIS), then I’m going to do it.

Give your fridge shelf appeal. It may be customary to stock the fruits and vegetables in the bins at the bottom of the refrigerator, but I say that’s a bad idea. If the good stuff is hidden, you’re less likely to see it and eat it. It’s estimated that more than $10 dollars a week per household is wasted on produce that has gone bad – and that’s usually because it’s out of sight. Use the bins for meats and deli items, and keep the healthy fruits and vegetables at eye level. When looking for a snack, you’re more likely grab the first item you see. Also give prominent shelf space to healthy snacks like hummus and peanut butter.

Kill Desktop Clutter by Banishing Transient Stuff

I haven’t posted anything from Lifehacker in awhile – so here goes. This is something that I just battled a little bit yesterday as I finally got around to cleaning the dust and surfaces that are around my desk here at work but I do realize I have a lot of clutter and stuff I haven’t used in a long time (what is the toaster and stainless steel drum doing in my filing cabinet??)

The article touches on how once you’ve cleaned your desk, it’s a lot easier to keep clean since you find yourself with the same attitude as a newly washed car. That is, “I just cleaned it, I’m not going to drive down some muddy trail or through puddles” – so with that in mind, once you’ve cleaned your desk – you’re most apt not to riddle it with more junk. Makes sense.

All of those questions are addressed with tips and ideas on how to address them at the article (click here to read it). I am going to be going through and re-organizing two rooms upstairs in the coming weeks – so it was actually a good idea to re-read these tips.

I’m kind of on a roll with new articles today.. this one has been on my ‘todo’ list for a long time.

Basically if you want to be able to download your music and have it AUTOMATICALLY inserted into iTunes.. well, be default you can’t.. but with this application.. go nuts!

Really cool idea where you can check this site to see if it’s worthwhile to stick around after the credits have rolled! I know I’ve been standing in the bloody doorway and have had to do a quick turnaround a few times when a scene comes up.. I hate that!
